The Pedal Rebels will be riding from Victoria Park to Newtown to meet with Red Rebels and Contemplative Rebels, on Sunday December 13, 2020. There is no cost for this event but please select our "Find tickets" option so that we can collect your attendance details. After meeting at Victoria Park Pool, Camperdown, at 12:30pm sharp, for a safety briefing, we will take a leisurely, but noisy, ride along City Road and King Street to our final destination at Camperdown Park around 1:30pm where we will join the Reds and the Contemplative Rebels who are gathering at Newtown and Camperdown Park. As we approach Summer we need to remind our government that we are in a climate crisis and that time is running out to make the changes necessary to stop runaway global warming and social and ecological collapse. Please bring XR flags, t-shirts or signs you can attach to your bike. This is a family and child-friendly event and everyone is welcome, so bring your friends! We are hoping to have at least 20 riders for this event. Should we have more than 20 riders, we will organise a second group to ride along South King Street, from St Peters Station, so please respond to the event or send a message to XR Inner West to confirm your participation so that we can make an accurate assessment of how many riders we are likely to have on the day. DO NOT BE LATE! Safety briefing begins at 11:30. - Ride will maintain physical distancing. - Safety precautions will be observed. - We may slow traffic but will not be majorly disruptive. - We will be loud, colourful and fun. - Ensure that your bicycle has a bell (we want to make some noise and it is a legal requirement). WET WEATHER - if the forecast is looking uncertain and skies are turning grey, check this Facebook event notification at 8:30am on the day for information about whether or not the ride is going ahead or contact XR Inner West via Messenger! If you need to borrow a bike or want to request other equipment, flags, etc. or if you are interested in handing out XR information, direct message XR Inner West. Extinction Rebellion acknowledges that this ride is taking place on the stolen land of the Gadigal People and that sovereignty over this land was never ceded. We acknowledge Gadigal elders past, present and emerging and the way they have cared for this country for tens of thousands of years.
