Help wildflowers by joining a volunteer work party with Cambridge on the Verge and CambridgePPF. We will be cutting back scrub on the road verge near Wandlebury in order to save the fragile flowering plants that live on the chalk grassland. All instruction, equipment and tools provided. Wear tough clothes and footwear and bring any drinks/snacks. Numbers of volunteers will be limited to 10 for this activity due to the location and type of work, so please register in advance by contacting Ben from Cambridge on the Verge at XR Cambridge acknowledges that many of our protests cause disruption. We are here to make our communities stronger, and to show this we do sister actions to give back and help other organizations. This sister action is with On The Verge, an amazing local group promoting the growing of nectar-rich wildflowers around the city of Cambridge. Their aim is to provide an abundance of food sources for pollinating insects which are in catastrophic decline. You can find more information on their website -> ------------------------ Wandlebury is located on the Gog Magog Hills just south of Cambridge and is signposted off the A1307. Postcode CB22 3AE. The park is 2 miles south of Addenbrooke’s Hospital roundabout on A1307 between Cambridge and Haverhill. There is a cycle path alongside the A1307 to the park. Wandlebury is well-served by Stagecoach Citiplus X13 and X13a bus service between Cambridge and Haverhill. There are stops close to the park entrance. Entry is FREE but car parking charges apply (£3 for any length of visit; members and disabled drivers park free). The car parking machine only accepts coins. Car parking income directly supports the park - we are a charity that receives no government or council funding for the running of the park.
