Extinction Rebellion has a shared vision of change, creating a world that is fit for generations to come. Our current toxic system is the opposite of this, prioritising short-term financial gain and extraction of natural resources over the long-term health and wellbeing of all beings and the planet, our life support system. We’re disconnected from our neighbours and communities, let alone people in the Global South who are already on the frontline of climate change. As a result, we’re heading for extinction unless something changes radically. So what does it mean to be a good human and a good ancestor? XR Suffolk Sunrise is curating an exhibition to consider these questions. It will feature the art of renowned Suffolk artists, including Maggi Hambling, Jelly Green and Julian Perry. Also on display will be pieces from local young people - as the first generation whose lives will be seriously affected by climate change, their voices are a vital part of the conversation. The exhibition will offer the art for sale to fundraise for XR Suffolk Sunrise and the Actions we take to encourage the system to #TellTheTruth and #ActNow. Preview and private viewing on 12th February, open to public from 13th February.
